Why I'm a Liberal Democrat
"I joined the local Liberal Democrats because our then local councillors seemed to really care about local people and local
issues. They had a real sense of community spirit and took part in and organised local events. I chaired our local residents'
association for almost 10 years and worked closely with residents and Harlow Council during the major refurbishment works on the
then Three Hills - now The Briars, Aylets Field and Copshall Close."

Current issues
I think that the main issues for the Staple Tye ward at the moment are working with local people to ensure that all homes
are sustainable. We need to work together to achieve the aspirations of residents to have a decent home that they are content with.
Some of this work has begun already and we need to work to build the confidence of local people in working with the Council.
I have been involved with the plans to redevelop Maunds Hatch community centre. This is an exciting and challenging project for
the ward. It was developed by local people and is a grass roots initiative.
I also believe that we have to make sure that Staple Tye ward's green spaces are protected and that we do not let developers take
up every opportunity to build infill housing and take away our open spaces.
