Tennis Club: Time To Draw a Line Under Old Scheme and Consider Alternatives

Harlow Lawn Tennis Club needs to draw a line under its unsuccessful proposal to lease land at Latton Bush, and move on to consider alternative options.

That's the view of Harlow's Liberal Democrats, following the decision of Harlow Council last night (Monday 18 October) not to send the matter back to the council's Policy & Resources Committee to consider for a record third time.

This means that the Tennis Club's proposal has now failed.

Liberal Democrat leader Cllr Lorna Spenceley said:

"The council has made its decision. It's up to all involved to draw a line under this unsuccessful proposal, and to work together to look for alternative options.

"I hope we can find a fresh solution that will enable the Tennis Club to succeed, while overcoming the fundamental objections to this scheme which the council has rejected. I also hope that the Conservatives will stop using the Tennis Club and its application as a party political football, and consider what is in the best interests of the Harlow community."
