Essex police has unveiled its new neighbourhood policing structure, including the new team for the Harlow South area which includes Staple Tye. The Inspector for Harlow South is Bob Adams, who will work with PCs Cran and Orme and a dedicated PCSO team to cover the Harlow South patch.
Staple Tye councillors Lorna Spenceley and Su Lawton were at the launch meeting at the Playhouse. They took the opportunity to ask the police how the police and the council could work more effectively together, and avoid the frustrating experience where residents are told by the police that something is the council's responsibility, then told by the council that it's the police's responsibility. Staple Tye is currently the only major area of Harlow without a surgery where local Police Community Support Officers can meet residents and discuss local community safety issues. Lorna has met the police to discuss how this can be resolved so that residents in our area can benefit from these surgeries too. There are currently 10 PCSOs in Harlow - several of them part-funded by the council. In recognition of the council's commitment, Harlow is set to gain an extra 13 PCSOs in the next year, plus a share of an additional 104 to be recruited across Essex. |
