Ballzone consultation

Kickwall at Larkswood in Potter StreetThis morning, I join five members of Harlow Youth Council - Stephen, Doris, Mina, Marcus and Darrell - out surveying residents' views at Maunds Hatch. They're accompanied by Diane and Patrick from Harlow Council, who work to support the Youth Councillors.

The survey is to find out what people think about the Youth Council's proposal for a ballzone next to the playground at Lower Meadow.

The Youth Council has already secured the money from Essex County Council for the ballzone project. They've printed eighty copies of the survey which they've already sent to residents surrounding the area, in a number of homes in Spruce Hill, Lower Meadow and Maunds Farm. This morning, clipboards to the ready, they're seeking views from shoppers, parents, passing residents - and generally getting a very positive response indeed.

If the consultation continues to go well, the equipment should be ordered and the ballzone up and running ready for next summer.
